Latest DVD releases

The first season of the 2008 Italian TV mini series Romanzo criminale – an alternate version of the excellent film made by Michele Placido in 2005 – has been released on DVD in Italy.  This is supposed to be pretty good, from what I’ve heard, and it would be great to see, but… yet again, it’s another release without any kind of English language option!  Harrumph.

Meanwhile, I know you’ve all been waiting for it… Alfonso Brescia’s ‘classic’ sword and sorcery film, Ator II: il guerriero di ferro (aka Iron Warrior) is finally released on DVD!  It’s the latest load of old cobblers (ahem, b-movie masterpiece) released by Storm Movie, and it includes English audio options, not that you really need to understand the dialogue.

Meanwhile, here’s a film I never expected to see on UK DVD…  Fabio De Agostini’s Red Nights of the Gestapo, starring Fred Williams.  This one was rejected by the BBFC back in 1979, which just goes to show.  I’ve never seen it, so can’t comment on it, I’m afraid.
