Giulio Petroni"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More sad news&#8230; Giulio Petroni died over the weekend.\u00a0 According to news reports in the Italian press:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Rome, January 31 &#8211; (Adnkronos) -The writer and director Giulio Petroni died in Rome at the age of 92.\u00a0 Petroni, who was born in September 1917, had been in hospital for a long time.\u00a0 Among his early work was a short film, <strong>Goethe a Roma<\/strong>.\u00a0 From 1951, he made an assortment of political documentaries, such as <strong>L&#8217;arte della Resistenza<\/strong>, <strong>Selinunte nastro bianco<\/strong>, <strong>Lembi di Albania in Calabria<\/strong> and <strong>Le strade verso Nord<\/strong>.\u00a0 He also worked as an assistant director on films such as  Giuseppe De Santis&#8217; <strong>Anna Zaccheo<\/strong>. His first feature film was 1959s <strong>La cento chilometri<\/strong>, which was soon followed by <strong>I piaceri dello scapolo<\/strong>, <strong>Una domenica d&#8217;estate<\/strong> and<strong> I soliti rapinatori a Milano<\/strong>.\u00a0 Petroni was best known for his westerns, including <strong>Da uomo a uomo<\/strong>, <strong>E per tetto un cielo di stelle<\/strong>, with Giuliano Gemma, and <strong>Tepepa<\/strong>, with Tomas Milian and Orson Welles, based on a screenplay by Franco Solinas.
