{"id":2430,"date":"2011-02-28T16:37:27","date_gmt":"2011-02-28T16:37:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thewildeye.co.uk\/blog\/?p=2430"},"modified":"2011-02-28T16:37:27","modified_gmt":"2011-02-28T16:37:27","slug":"2430","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thewildeye.co.uk\/blog\/latest-news\/2430\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ricky Tognazzi, of <strong>Ultra<\/strong>, <strong>L&#8217;escorta <\/strong>etc etc, has a new film that&#8217;s just come out in Italy.\u00a0\u00a0 It&#8217;s a thriller of sorts, starring Alessandro Gassman and based on a novel by Giancarlo De Cataldo (<strong>Romanzo criminale<\/strong>).\u00a0 Reviews have been mixed and it&#8217;s not being widely distributed, showing in just 16 cinemas for now.<\/p>\n<p>According <a href=\"http:\/\/www.variety.com\/review\/VE1117944078\/\" onclick=\"javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackEvent','outbound-article','http:\/\/www.variety.com']);\" target=\"_blank\">to Variety<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Thirteen years after his breakout role in Ferzan Ozpetek&#8217;s &#8220;<strong>Steam: The Turkish Bath<\/strong>,&#8221; thesp Alessandro Gassman plays another handsome Italo husband seduced by the Orient in &#8220;<strong>The Father and the Foreigner<\/strong>,&#8221; and again the region is personified by an affable but mysterious local. But Ricky Tognazzi&#8217;s adaptation of the book by &#8220;Crime Novel&#8221; scribe Giancarlo De Cataldo feels muddled, with awkwardly handled thriller elements in the latter reels getting in the way of a message of cultural fraternity and impressively twinned portraits of men caring for disabled children.
