Peter Carl doit ouvrir les coffres de l&#8217;International Banking Corporation. Lorsqu&#8217;il est dans sa chambre d&#8217;h\u00f4tel, Peter Carl fait appel \u00e0 une vamp \u00e9nigmatique, Corinne. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 elle, Peter enqu\u00eate sur son employeur, il veut savoir \u00e0 qui il a affaire et quels dangers le guettent. En conjuguant son enqu\u00eate personnelle et le d\u00e9tournement de fonds \u00e0 la banque, Peter s&#8217;attire le regard du commissaire Ulrich en m\u00eame temps que les inimit\u00e9s de William \u00e0 la solde du myst\u00e9rieux employeur.<\/p>\n<p>Enfin Peter est dans la banque, il force le coffre et sort les grosses coupures. Mais William et ses hommes de mains tentent de le tuer, une poursuite s&#8217;engage. Eprouv\u00e9, Peter s&#8217;\u00e9chappe des polders et parviens jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 une clairi\u00e8re o\u00f9 l&#8217;inspecteur Ulrich l&#8217;attend patiemment. Le voleur montre un mouchoir blanc, il se rend, mais il est tu\u00e9 impitoyablement par la police?<\/p>\n<p>La musique est de Jacques Lacombe, compositeur de Aux frais de la Princesse notamment. Le directeur de la photographie \u00e9tait Jacques Fellous, \u00e0 l&#8217;?uvre dans Arr\u00eatez les tambours (autre films avec Daniel Sorano) et Les Tontons Flingueurs, deux films de Georges Lautner.<\/p>\n<p>Dans ce film noir, toute l&#8217;essence de cette tendance cin\u00e9matographique est pr\u00e9sente. Tant par les effets de cam\u00e9ra, de flash-back, que par l&#8217;utilisation d&#8217;une musique sombre et d\u00e9lit\u00e9e. La voix-off est ici aussi tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9sente, Peter Carl parle de sa propre exp\u00e9rience et use d&#8217;un ton sarcastique. Les dialogues sont savoureux et m\u00ealent l&#8217;argot et la bonne formule. Entre eux, les personnages sont en tension permanente, un rapport de force s&#8217;\u00e9tablit principalement entre Peter et Corinne, qui jouent au chat et \u00e0 la souris. \u00ab Le scorpion- nous dit La Fouine devrait servir d&#8217;embl\u00e8me pour tous les gens de notre esp\u00e8ce. Devant l&#8217;adversaire il recule, il darde toutes ses armes. Il finasse de droite, de gauche, puis il attaque sauvagement. \u00bb &#8220;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Comments: Obscure international co-production, which boasts a handful of Italian character actors (Franco Giacobini, Eva Maltagliati) but very little other input from Cinecitta.  It was filmed over three months in Amsterdam, where Daniel Sorano was also busy appearing as Shylock in The Merchant of Venice.  Sorano was frequently ill, causing regular stoppages to filming, and in the last scene there were additional problems with him collapsing during the filming.
