EURO ACTION / ADVENTURE / DRAMA ON DVD
The Con Artists
Mildly amusing caper film directed by Sergio (DJANGO) Corbucci, with Anthony Quinn. Probably one for the completists out there...

Cut and Run
This sits somewhere between being Ruggero Deodata's sequel to CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST and a more straightforward action film. Lisa Blount and Leonard Mann play a couple of TV journalists chasing down a supposedly dead cult leader (Richard Lynch) in the wilds of the Amazon. Much better than is sometimes said.

Danger Diabolik
A classic slice of sixties fun, this is one of the best DVDs I've seen for ages. Lovely print, cool extras and a great Tim Lucas / John Philip Law commentary

Don't Touch The White Woman!
Full screen. Slightly pretentious 'rereading' of the Spaghetti Western.

Escape From Hell
Cheap Troma release of this 1979 Eduoardo Mulargia film, starring Anthony Steffen and Ajita Wilson. It's a WIP, but surprisingly good fun, veering into old-fashioned jungle adventure. Mulargia knew how to make good, low-budget movies.

The Frightened Woman
Letterboxed, not the best quality; but it's a damn good film starring Dagmar Lassander and Philippe Leroy

Girl from Rio
Here's one of the few Jesus Franco films I have no hesitation in recommending. It's a partial spy film, very colourful and very entertaining. Richard Wyler is the star, and the quality is great.

Kong Island
Someone out there with access to my brain must have tried to establish what a good DVD release would be. KONG ISLAND (aka KING OF KONG ISLAND) was the obvious result. Brad Harris stars as his usual action hero self, Marc Lawrence is a scientist carrying out research into brian transplants. This must be one of the stupidest, most insane films ever made, and as such I love it. Robert Mauri (lots of other inane stupid films) was the director.

The Last Hunter
Antonio Margheriti attempts to rip-off APOCALYPSE NOW! What a great concept, so instead of Martin Sheen you get David Warbeck, instead of Robert Duvall you get John Steiner and instead of Marlon Brando you get... well that would be giving it away. It's all actually very well done, and stands as probably Margheriti's best war film.

Ravishing Idiot, A
Comedy spy film with Anthony Perkins and Brigitte Bardot. It's not that great, to be honest, but certainly one for completists.

Ring Around the World
This Luigi Scattini film is available as the extra feature on the Retromedia DVD of Terminal Force (which also stars Richard Harrison). It's not great quality, but it's a decent film and it's a spy flick.

The 10th Victim
Fabulous sci-fi films from the underrated Elio Petri. Ursula Andress and Marcello Mastroianni are two contestants who's job it is to kill each other. Great pop-art fun.

Theft of the Mona Lisa
French caper movie with Horst Buccholz avaialable in the UK. It's French lnaguage with English subs (it also has a great menu, by the way!)

White Fang to the Rescue
Well, it's a pretty shoddy disc, as you'd expect from Brentwood, but what a cast! Herny Silva, Maurizio Merli (as 'Ben Dover'!), Benito Stefanelli etc etc. Personally, I think it's criminal NOT to spend $5 on a film which has Luciano Rossi in there somewhere.

Zorro
Fullscreen release but (a) it's cheap (b) it's good and (c) it's Duccio Tessari. Alain Delon is the man in the mask...
