HORROR FILMS ON DVD
Aenigma
Dull as ditchwater late Fulci nonsense. I wish some more deserving films were granted as decent a release.

Amazonia
Ridiculous Mario Gariazzo jungle shocker. Mediocre stuff, for the committed only!

Black Sunday
Mario Bava's classic horror film, starring Barbara Steele and John Richardson

Bloodlust/Atom Age Vampire
Cheesey Italian sci-fi movie from the late fifties, which isn't entirely disimilar to I VAMPIRI. Alberto Lupo stars as a doctor seeking to cure his lovers facial disfigurment by experimenting upon human glands.

Battle of the Worlds
Excellent low-budget sci-fi epic from the reliable Antonio Margheriti

Bloody Pit of Horror
A true cult classic, with Mickey Hargitay going completely over the top and harassing lots of nubile young ladies. Superb fun.

Castle of Blood
Lovely release of this Antonio Margheriti classic, aka Danse Macabre. Barbara Steele is the star, in the tale of a young lad persuaded to stay in a haunted castel as part of a bet. Wonderful gothic chills.

The Church
Michele Soavi's entertaining 80's horror flic with Thomas Arana. Complete nonsense, but still jolly good fun.

Curse of the Devil
Gosh, it's ages since I've seen this one, so I can't really comment. Suffice to say, it has Paul Naschy in it, so it should be relatively good fun.

Deep River Savages
Surprising entertaining Lenzi cannibal flick, which plays more like a jungle adventure movie. Ivan Rassimov is in there somewhere. There's a little bit of animal mutilation cut, but it looks damn good

Eerie Midnight Horror Show
Total tosh, but with a great cast and not entirely unamusing. A young art restorer is possessed by the devil, causing her to remove her clothing at every oportunity.

Eugenie - The Story of Her Journey Into...
I'm not a Jesus Franco fan, but this is a fantastic looking disc of a film that was made during his creative peak.

Exorcismo
More Paul Naschy fun, this time directied by Juan Bosch (who made several westerns and giallos). It's a so-so Exorcist rip-off, but if you're a Naschy fan...

Fangs of the Living Dead
Anita Ekberg vampire move. What more can I say!

The Fury of the Wolfman
This is the film that everyone who visits my flat immediately picks out, saying 'what the hell is this rubbish?' Well, my friends are very astute; it is complete rubbish. A must for Paul Naschy fans and lovers of truly shite films.

Grim Reaper
Joe D'Amato tosh featuring George Eastman.

Hatchet for the Honeymoon
Mario Bava once more.

Hell of the Living Dead
I can think of roughly 8,463 films that are more deserving of the lovely Anchor Bay treatment than this load of old rubbish, but there you go. It's Bruno Mattei, it's got zombies in it, there's lots of gore. If that rings your bell, go ahead; what do I care?

The House of Exorcism/Lisa and the Devil
LISA was recut and released as HOUSE, but remains a much, much better film. Fortunately this disc includes the both of them, and is a great purchase.

Justine
Another beautiful Franco disc.

The Mad Butcher
Chubby Victor Buono stars as a nutty butcher who has a secret ingredient for his famous sausages: human flesh. Fun stuff, directed by Guido Zurli

Mill of the Stone Women
At last, one of the great underrated Italian gothic horror films on DVD. Directed by the excellent Giorgio Ferroni, this is a must have for everybody.

Mountain of the Cannibal God
Absolutely gorgeous quality. Stacey Keach and Ursula Andress lead an expedition into the Amazon, where they soon come across a bunch of crazy cannibals with outrageous dress sense. Highly entertaining.

The New Gladiators
Silly MAD MAX/ROLLERBALL rip-off from Lucio Fulci, featuring Fred Williamson and Jared (charisma) Martin.

Playgirls & The Vampire
Entertaining piece of euro-horror fluff, directed by Piero Regnoli. A bunch of showgirls come across an isolated castle inhabited by Walter Brandi - but is he a vampire..?

Rats - Night of Terror
Uniquely, the animals in this film are far superior performers to the actors. In fact, they'd also be far better directors than Bruno Mattei if given a chance behind the camera. Gory nonsense, but some people like it.

Sadomania
Yet more Franco nonsense. This one has its admirers, but I wouldn't shell out my hard earned for it. Lovely print, though, by all accounts

Stage Fright
Michele Soavi's debut - and best - film.

The Stendhal Syndrome
Recent Argento thriller.

I Vampiri
More Bava, here giving able assistance to Riccardo Freda. review

Vampires Night Orgy
Haven't seen this one myself, so I can't really comment.

Vampyros Lesbos
More Franco, more nudity, more saucy frolics, more crap plotting. Soledad Miranda stars this time.

Virgin of Nuremberg, The
Lovely slice of early sixties gothic drama, this features Barbara Steele in her trademark femme fatale role. It's a great film, and it's a great print.

Voices From Beyond
Dull, late Fulci film. 'Nough said.

Werewolf Shadow
It's Naschy, it's rubbish! Maybe I'm being unfair, as this does have a number of supporters. Patty Shepard (who is lovely) guest stars as the vampiress foil to Naschy's hairy hero.

The Whip and The Body
Bava again. review

A Whisper in the Dark
Unusual one for NoShame to release, this: MArcello Aliprandi's obscure ghost story from 1976. Still, it's a decent movie, looks fantastic and there's an interview with cinematographer Claudio Cirillo.

Young Hannah - Queen of the Vampires
I actually liked this film quite a bit. Mark Damon is a loony on a Spanish island, who is trying to resurrect a vampiress called Hannah (Teresa Gimpera). It has a very unusual, rural feel to it - which makes it different enough to be of interest.
