A former wrestler, Peruvian Dakkar is one of the more familiar black actors to have worked in Italy, mainly because of his participation in a number of cult favourites from the late seventies and early eighties. Probably his best known role is as Richard Johnson’s jumpy assistant in Zombi 2, and he also pops up in Marino Girolami’s Zombie Holocaust and Joe D’Amato’s Ator, Fighting Eagle. In fact, he’d been active in the industry for many years before that, appearing in assorted peplums, spy films and even the occassional western. Early in his career he was closely associated with director Umberto Lenzi, with whom he made five films, but he also went on to work with such notables as Federico Fellini (in Giulietta degli spiriti and Satyricon) and Carmelo Bene (Salomè).
