Couple of essential new DVDs out this week. Giuseppe Capotond’s La doppia ora is a thriller that came out last year to quite a bit of acclaim. It’s the kind of film that should get an international release, so this might be out in the UK and the US at some point in the future. But given the pathetic distribution of Italian films recently, it might not. In which case, let’s be thankful that the Italian DVD actually comes with English subs
Meanwhile, Sergio Corbucci’s excellent western The Mercenary has come out from Koch in Germany. Looks like a good release, too, with a handful of extras (including a making of feature with Tony Musante, Franco Nero etc etc), and it’s only €13 from Amazon.de.
