Carlo Croccolo and… Marilyn Monroe?

Carlo CroccoloThe Republica has just published a fun interview with Italian actor Carlo Croccolo, in which he details his short lived affair with Marilyn Monroe!

Just to summarise:

  • Their love affair lasted three months
  • They met when Marilyn was at a low point in her life, in 1962, suffering from depression after the end of her affair with Yves Montand
  • They met at a festival at Los Angeles, through Sammy Davis Jr
  • Marily apparently suffered from cellulitis!
  • When they were seeing each other she was drinking heavily

It’s interesting to see how all these disparate cinematic fields eventually connect up together. Croccolo is a very well know actor in Italy, who’s done very well on TV and picked up awards for his performances in Luigi Magni’s O Re (89), Claudio Bigagli’s Il guerriero Camillo (99). To eurotrash fanatics, however, he’s probably better known as the director of the culty Spaghetti Western The Black Killer (71) and a supporting performer who appeared in – amongst many other films – After the Fox (66) & Danger Diabolik (68)

  1. I’d love too, but don’t really have the time at the moment… you could try putting it in an online translator. I don’t think he has a great deal to add beyond what I’ve outlined, to be honest…

  2. Dunno what to make of this. Even if it is true, the bit about cellulitis…the fact that he should say it on record! But it makes sense in this man on what evidence I have of him. There is something of that in BLACK KILLER. In fact, that film contains a scene of full-frontal female nudity caught by a handheld camera, which may in fact have been “stolen” from the actress.
