Italians, by Giovanni Veronesi

The big new release in Italy this week is Giovanni Veronesi’s comedy Italians, which has simply mopped up at the box office.  To give an example of the scale of its success, it’s taken almost 4.8 million euros over its opening weekend.  The next most popular new release is Milk, which took nearly 610,ooo euros.  The Italian appetite for domestic comedies is, it seems, as strong as ever.  Although a cynic could point out that it’s showing on a ton of screens, and the takings per screen aren’t quite so impressive.  Still…

There aren’t any English language reviews of this one yet, and I doubt it will get much of an international release – stars Carlo Verdone and Sergio Castellitto rarely have their films break out into the wider world, despite their popularity in Italy.

  1. Does anyone know what is this movie about?
I’d also like to ask if there is any way to watch this film for a person who knows only 2 languages – Russian and English.
I’m interested in this because I took part in some episodes in St.Petersburg.
P.S. Excuse me for my awful English.
