News just filtering through that French actress Annie Girardot, who had been suffering from Alzheimers for some time, has died at the age of 79. It will probably be eclipsed by the news of Jane Russell’s death, but Girardot was a huge star in France and appeared in numerous notable films. She played Nadia, the prostitute and love interest for Renato Salvatori in Rocco and his Brothers (60), was in Marco Ferreri’s Dillinger is Dead (69), Franco Rossi’s Smog (62) and was excellent in Alain Jessua’s Shock Treatment (73), amongst many others. She appeared in a spy film, The Dirty Game (65). Sad news, I’ll post a link to an obit later.
