Born in Brescia in 1909, his career in show business began in France, where he obtained some success first as a pop singer, then as an actor in a film by Sacha Guitry, Les Perles de la Couronne.  Back in Italy, after attending the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, he made his Italian debut in 1940 with a part in La peccatrice, directed by Hamlet Palermi. From the quantitative point of view, his work as actor was very intense, but qualitatively Dottesio never played more than character or background parts, though he lacked neither the physique nor the thespian skills. In 1955 he wanted to prove himself as a documentary filmmaker, directing a feature film, Amazzonia terra sconosciuta, which never received any distribution.

Sr. Dottesio died in 1989, aged 79, in Rome.
