Jon Chevron in Tarzak Against the Leopard Menaka John Chevron

Jon Chevron was a slight actor who had supporting, vaguely comic roles in a couple of Italian action films. In Colossus of the Arena he played a cowardly sidekick to Maciste (Mark Forest), and he was one of many black performers to feature in the entertaining jungle adventure Tarzak Against the Leopard Men (both films also feature Harold Bradley). He also turned up in a Franco & Ciccio film (Indovina chi viene a merenda?) and Shaft in Africa, which was partially shot in Europe.

I’ve been unable to find any information about him whatsoever, but I’m guessing that he was an American, primarily because of his early credits on US TV (unless these are erroneous, of course). He has the physique of a dancer, so that might well be what he was originally doing in Rome (see also Van Aikens, Wilbert Bradley, Leo Coleman etc). That’s just a guess, though…

  1. Is that him in EVA, LA VENERE SELVAGGIA who “identifies” the “sacred monkey” (=chimp on a tree) – about 40 mts in the film?
