Danish actress Vivi Bach appeared in three Eurospy films: Elektra 1, Upperseven, The Man to Kill and Assignment K.
Born in Copenhagen in 1939, Ms Bach started out as a hairstylist before becoming a succesful model and singer (she was briefly known as ‘the first Danish teenager’). Her first brush with cinema was appearing in a handful of Danish films, which were all moderately succesful domestically, if making little impact beyond Scandinavia.
In 1960, she landed a record contract in Germany, where she also became a popular TV host as well as starring in numerous films. As well as her spy films, she appeared in a number of musicals and comedies, such as the Golden Globe nominated Ski Fever (66), as well as the historically important spaghetti western Bullets Don’t Argue (64).
With her blonde hair and innocent looks, she was a natural for ‘good girl’ roles, so her Eurospy parts weren’t, perhaps, the most exciting – she generally played the slightly comic sidekick to the star – but she was always acquitted herself pretty well in them.
Since her cinema career faded out in the late 60s, she’s kept herself busy, continuing with her work as a TV presenter – including a notorious ‘game for a laugh’ type programme she co-hosted with her husband, fellow spy star Dietmar Schönherr – and producer.
